http://hotgarlic.blogspot.com/

I know I am behind on my meal plan for this week.
I have made sloppy joes for lunch today and what is left is in the refrig. If my teen does finish it off it goes in the freezer for later.
I am going to call hubby and see what he wants.

I am working on this list so far--

money bread
pancakes
Granola ) need to find a recipe
apple juice for drinks
sodas
Tea
school snacks
BLT
Homemade pizza ( pizza mix) from walmart , pepperoni, and cheese
baked chicken ,
chicken noodles-

I need some more ideas:)

dec 26th

Today is my son's 17th birthday.

Happy birthday to you with love.

Today we took him to Ross and he got a ecko zip up hooded jacket $30 that was $65, then he bought some spark plugs for his truck- yep guy stuff.

OK, as you may have read over the past few post- I am working my way toward building a stockpile, learning the freezer meal method and cooking up meals even if it is for a week or 2 - working my way to once a month cooking on some items slowly.
Well, now that we have got past the Christmas meals and blessings.
Today as I was out and had $20 left from the money that my mother-in-law gave me( read other post of what we bought for the kitchen) today I bought a clear 3 pc. bowl set for $4.99 saved $5. I had always wanted one of these sets.
then at a quick stop at walmart , I quickly went through the clearance items in the back and found a 16 pc. dish set for $8.50 savings of $10.
I got that too because our dishes are low and I don't have any bowls for cereal or anyone to eat from other than my freezer bowls( ziploc bowls).
so I have some bowls for cooking now.
I have a birthday coming this week- don't tell anyone-
I will get money from my mother-in-law( she saves all yr. bc there are 4 birthdays and Christmas in the same 2 weeks) , I am going to shop for pots and pans and stuff to try to learn to make cookies ( bake 350 blog).

OK, so far I have a fair start to Jan.2010 -

Yes, before I forget at Galaxy ( I don't shop here much) - I saw in the sales ad that they had economy pork chops on sale for $9.98 for 10 Lbs. Hubby and I stopped in to see what they looked like and they are in a huge bx. from smith field ( you know like hams are from). WE got it and brought it home to thaw them out , so we could divide them and put them in freezer bags- we got 3 freezer bags and there are 6 left in the re-frig. for Sunday meal after church.
I will have to go by food lion after church for a few things that we are out of.
Starting in Jan. I will start rebuilding my stockpile again and work on freezer meals and cooking in advance too.

Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy Birthday to my son.

Today is Christmas eve , My hubby is working so he can be off on Christmas day to spend with the kids. He drives a truck for this co.  and has to run his rt. to be off - that is why.
His work on the driving job is seasonal like the men that do construction work - He works as much as he can because work is slow now.
But he should be home today by lunch or shortly after.

I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and pray that everyone knows it is Jesus Christ 's Birthday that we celebrate!
Happy Birthday Jesus!

We are going to be a little busy over the next couple of days with Christmas and our son's birthday, we are wishing you blessings and be safe!

Dec. 26Th is my son's birthday , he will be 17!!! He is waiting on me to sign his paper work to go into the NAVY. He is in the seacadet program now and is a E3.
We are planning several trips out of state for 2010 for him through the program. He is hoping to be a PO 2 by summer or higher.  If you would like to know more about our program or a program in your area go to http://www.charlotteseacadet.org/
Where there is a Navy around the world there is a program.

spent the day with my mother-in-law

First of all she is awesome!

Today we took the kids with us shopping. She told them that we were buying mommy gifts for christmas. She gives us so much money and lets us pick out what we want and then she takes it home and wraps it up for us and we can have dec. 24th.

First I stopped by pennys to take back a coat that I got about 2 weeks ago( i posted the deal if you scroll through) but sunday before church the zipper broke. Penny 's took the coat back and let me get another just like it - there was just one left in that size and it was the same color.
Ok that store was done.
next, she ran into target to take something back - I don't know what - it took less than 5 mins.
next over to hammricks ( I reallly like this store) , today is tues so it is seniors day 10% off plus they had a extra 20% off ALL items!!!
so we saved alot from the before price and their mark down prices and then another $20 or more after the extra 30% off ( above %) .
I got a 30 pc pyrex set , 8 pc bake ware set ( blue) and set of glasses - stuff for the house for $40!!!
I have $20 left.
she got a nativity scene it was $50 for each bx and their price was $19.99 then the 30% off and she pd. $10 .?? each for them - cool deal.

WE got the kids gifts the other week and she is giving my teen money since that is what he ask for.
Hubby got boots with his money.

update on cooking so far

I am in all at the bloggers that I have posted about on the link before ( you scroll back and you will see the links) . I went to Aldi's yesterday since they were calling for a snow thing this weekend.
I did good there I spent $46 .
I made a list before I went and I got a ham $13 and 2 gal. of milk at 2.17 each and  what was on my list execpt for a couple of items.

Then I can home and started to bake somethings. I made choc. cupcakes and then took the centers out of half of them. I filled with vanilla pudding and the rest of the pudding is in the refri. for the kids.
I also had started making the nutella turnovers( they were good) and my cooking area was getting filled to quick.
Quicker than I thought it would. I am soooo thankful I had a friend over to help me some.
We moved somethings around so we have extra room.
I had put the butter in the micro ( bc I had forgotten to let it get rm temp) I know not to smart . It was to warm to make the icing and I did it anyway thinking it may still work --- Don't do it -- It didn't work !
I made a mess.
My cherry turnovers did good and I drizzled some of the extra icing on them.

so I have made the cupcakes, cherry turnovers, nuttela turnovers.
I put the ham in a oven bag( bc I didn't grap a crockpot bag but it still works) and put it in the crockpot for a few hrs. and make rolls that was cooking for yesterday -- I had to get all the dishes done.
This mg I made sausage, egg and cheese burrios . My teen ate one and I have some left to bag and freeze  for later.  Then both schools called and I had to pick up the kids at 10 am due to snow.

I am slowly getting there , I am trying.

I just have to share. I am going to have to really start stocking up of groceries.
If you like nutella , you should really like this.
I am going to give it a shot really soon! I am putting on my groc list what I need and I will try to make it really soon.
I am pulling together ideas form everyones blog of things to cook - so I can hit the groc store and do a shop and start working on a big cook. It may not be a all day cook or a once a month cook but I do want to get some things started.
Thanks everyone for the tips.

I want to try this  maybe the end of the week or early next wk. If I do , I will post how it goes.

I have alot of links saved to my favs that I want to share with everyone. I am going to be adding them as I can.
I know I can't do a one day cook off for the once a month cooking but I can break it down. since I have picky eaters I have to pick and choose carefully also.
I will be picking through the other bloggers ideas and recipes and you can to.
I want to give everyone the credit due, if you can bake or cook or anything - it is great. Hopefully by putting these on here I can keep up with them easier my self. Everyone has such good ideas!
If they like it , I will make 2 batches and freeze it or more. My goal is to save time and money. So lets get 2010 started off with some cooking.

There are so many to try , where I do start?  Last night I made my homemade icing from hoosierhomemade and I didn't have anything to take out the holes from the center of the cupcakes , so I just made a cake.(I am on the hunt for something to take the centers out of the cupcakes,I want to try the ones that I can fill and I want to try the ones with the ice cream cones)
The icing turned out really good, I had some left over so I put it in a zip-lock bag and in the frig. for now.
